QR code generator
Type an address, get a code. No account, no email, no watermark, and nothing expires.
What you get
This makes a static QR code, which means the web address is encoded directly into the pattern. Nothing routes through us, so there is nothing we could switch off even if we wanted to. It will scan in twenty years.
Download it as PNG for screens and most printing, or SVG for anything being resized or sent to a professional printer. Both are watermark-free on every plan, including this page, which does not require a plan at all.
Before you print it
- Check the size. A rough rule: the printed code should be about a tenth of the distance people scan it from. The panel below your code shows a recommended minimum for your specific code, which depends on how much data it holds.
- Leave the margin alone. The blank border around the code is called the quiet zone, and the specification requires four modules of it. It is how a scanner finds the code against a busy background.
- Keep the contrast strong. Dark code on a light background. We warn you here if a colour pair is likely to fail.
- Test on two phones, in the lighting it will actually live in.
When you need more than this
A static code cannot be changed after printing and cannot be tracked. If you need to edit the destination later, or want to know how many people scanned it, you need a dynamic code, which requires an account. Our free plan includes three of them with no scan limit.
Is this really free?
Yes. No account, no email address, no watermark, no scan limit, no expiry. Static codes cost us nothing to make because they do not route through us at all.
Does the code expire?
No. The address is encoded in the pattern itself. See do QR codes expire.
Can I use it commercially?
Yes. The code is yours, with no attribution required.
